Observation is more than meets the eyes..

We’re only as strong, as the masks we maintain,
They become transparent, when we’re feeling the strain,
Searching for a loving heart, to lead us the way,
Or a friendly smile, to get us through the day.

Regardless of your strengths, we all have our flaws,
It’s what we battle, our own inner wars,
The person sat next to you, could be recovering,
From illness, heartbreak, would you see their suffering?

A person eyes, tells you what you need to know,
Can you look beyond the surface? Are they feeling low?
We look around, but we don’t actually see,
Above our own problems, so miss the hidden pleas.

So next time your walking, take a walk in my shoes,
Look on the outside, & see the faces we confuse,
Would you stop? to help someone, who’s JUST surviving,
To help them see, accept, that they needed a little guiding.

  1. This is beautiful. I can be so self involved with my own dramatics I don’t see the troubles around me. It’s actually making me wonder if I’ve been hurting anyone by neglect lately. Great poem!!

      • It’s an absolute pleasure, makes me feel useful and it is a really great piece. I wish I was more observant but I can be guilty whipping up a tornado in my head making my empathy gets fuzzy. (oh and it’s not official, let’s just say im undercover right now. Gotta steal the cheer secrets somehow I can’t afford to pay…or im cheap, one of the two)

  7. This is so poignantly beautiful. I always look at peoples’ eyes. They are the windows to the soul. I have seen such sorrow in some….a kind word will go so far….I know….

Iโ€™ve been surfing on-line greater than 3 hours these days,
but I by no means found any fascinating article like yours.
Itโ€™s beautiful worth sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all site
owners and bloggers made good content as you probably did, the web might be a lot more useful than ever before.
