Abyss..

Perceived as cold
Eyes are grey,
Surrounded by
Burning walls
Which scold.
Misinterpretation
They will never see,
I’m lost in a forever
Changing storm,
To remain
Controlled.
Edges are rough
A broken image,
By a heart
That’s forged from
Steel and Gold.
An unfinished story
Which is yet
To be written,
Still to be told.
Fooled by the image
Portrayed,
The image
Of lies I’ve sold.
Look beyond the eyes
And witness,
The battle scars
Hidden deeper
Than any abyss,
Unfold.

They say the most powerful writing comes when the poet taps into their soul, rather than simply crafting. This piece is far more than craftsmanship, isn’t it. It finds its was right into my soul.

We see only pieces here and there, we cannot see underneath, to the scars and what was before. Your speaker is in constant flux; always changing, reforming. Lovely descriptions.
