Dreaming yourself to sleep

I dream myself to sleep
It is like a movie
Just very deep.
Only to discover
This is not normal,
Others can not relate
To my magical portal.
This technique
Is all I’ve ever known,
To close my eyes
& travel to other zones.
I am fully aware
Of what fantasy I create,
As these dreams lead
To my unconscious state.
So I close my eyes
And I set the scene
The brain takes over
Somewhere inbetween.
Someone tell me
They do the same,
Do you dream to sleep
Or am I just insane?

Yes, you’ve been told, lucid dreaming is a thing. Aside from that your poem is quite lovely to me

Have you read ‘The Blue Castle?’ The main character escapes from reality by retiring to a place in her mind. Not to get to sleep, but to escape. Fun romance. I also dream myself off to sleep sometimes.

  4. I’ve always done this too. So you’re not alone. It’s like telling yourself a story to fall asleep with.

I do this by day, eyes open, staring at the ceiling skylight portal to the sky, soul dancing in my mind….by night I seldom feel or see a thing …
