Smiles and lies

My body is drained
It’s done with giving,
My mind is screaming
“This isn’t called living”
My heart aches
My eyes begin to fill,
I hold every breath
As the pain over-spills.
Pulling myself together
I sit & adjust my hair,
Practice my broken smile
I’ll pretend that I care.
Today I will try to fit in
I’ll be like everyone else,
They’ll believe I’m happy
As I run from myself.
